Statement of Work: 

Down By is a soulful blend, a deep reflection between the poetics of ancestral wisdom, poetry and the present visual representation of intergenerational healing. Resurrecting experiences from Black folks thriving in the shadows of large oaks and crimson clay rising and falling between bare feet. Children of the land, of truck drivers, mothers filled with old time religion and overflowing with wisdom like jugs filled at Healing Springs. An invitation to a Black, Queer, Country utopia, Down By is a work manifested on the journey towards healing after spending 2.5 long years away from my people, my mother, my land. Rituals, Cool Waters, Long Walks and many tears. Down
